two professionals shaking hands mediation

Dean Christopherson has been mediating commercial and real estate disputes for ten years. Drawing on over 35 years of litigation and trial experience, and having attended over 100 hours of mediation training, he has the ability to focus the parties and their counsel on key issues on which the case may turn at trial, allowing them to make informed settlement decisions based on their likelihood of success in court.

Beyond legal questions, issues on which a case may turn include:

  • Whether crucial evidence will be admissible
  • Credibility of witnesses
  • The costs of litigation (both financial and emotional)
  • Potential collectability of any potential judgment

While making clear that his questions and concerns have no direct bearing on the outcome of the case if it is not settled at mediation – as he does not communicate his feelings to the Court – his analysis of the case with fresh eyes increases the likelihood of a successful resolution.

Dean Christopherson is a member of The Mediation Society, a professional organization of experienced mediators based in San Francisco who specialize in resolving commercial disputes and civil litigation. He is also on the mediation panels for the California Third District Court of Appeal, the Superior Courts of Contra Costa, San Mateo, Solano, Sacramento, and Santa Clara Counties, and the Bar Association of San Francisco. He is also a mediator for the California Association Of Realtors® Real Estate Mediation Center for Consumers program which provides home buyers and sellers with experienced, specially trained mediators to assist them in resolving real estate disputes.
